On Finishing Things

The hardest part of any project is shipping it before it is perfect. The second hardest part is resisting the urge to rewrite it immediately after.

Most rewrites are not corrections. They are a form of avoidance — the comfortable feeling of starting over without the discomfort of maintaining what you already built.

Ship it. Maintain it. Rewrite it only when the original cannot be salvaged.
